These silver, labradorite, and aquamarine dangle earrings are a graceful shape and very comfortable to wear! I love the mysterious combination of the bluish labradorite and the pale green blue aquamarine teardrop!
The little flower segment was made from a chunky little silver nugget that I impressed with an aster wildflower pattern and the labradorite element has flashes of light and reminds me of a stormy sky!
Now about the "secret garden"....On the back of the teardrop segment is a pattern which I hand carve first out of brass and imprint into the silver using a rolling mill. It's a process that enables me to make my own patterns and keep all the elements of design original. Since the flower pattern is on the backs of the earrings, the garden is known only to the wearer...hence the "secret garden" thought. For me it's a little reminder of gratitude for this amazing earth that we are a part of and all the beauty she gives us.
These are totally one of a kind and a loving nod to the value of native planting. Asters do an amazing job feeding bees and balancing the food web for insects and birds.
My little patch of land on this precious creek is slowly being returned to an oasis for the insects and birds that seek the foods they evolved with, and with it comes a deep appreciation of these beautiful forms!
